Fire Prevention and Education

Capital City Fire/Rescue teaches the youth of our community about fire safety and fire prevention through visiting area schools with volunteer and career firefighters. Tools that we use in educating our youth include a packets of information and a fire safety house.

Capital City Fire/Rescue is the agency responsible for providing fire suppression services, emergency medical services, and airport rescue and firefighting within the City and Borough of Juneau.

Department Histories

The Capital City Fire/Rescue is packed full of tradition and history - with a heritage of brave, loyal, and honorable firefighters in our community. In the 1990's the Capital City Fire/Rescue patch was designed and put into service.

Air Medevac

Capital City Fire/Rescue officially began providing Air Medevac services to surrounding communities in 1990. Prior to 1990, emergency patients from logging camps, fishing camps, and other remote locations were sent to Juneau via float plane or helicopter with little or no EMS care.

Capital City Fire/Rescue's Fire Training Division

Most training done by Capital City Fire/Rescue personnel is done at the Hagevig Regional Fire Training Center. The facility was constructed by the State of Alaska in 1978.
